1994 Pontiac Trans AM 25th Anniversary Edition

50 Cars for 50 Years – Spotlight #19

The Pontiac Firebird is a truly rare vehicle— and only a limited number of the 25th Anniversary Trans Ams were ever produced. As Berkley One Classics celebrates the big 5-0, we’re hosting an exciting virtual car show for collectors and enthusiasts alike. We’ll share our love of classic cars by spotlighting 50 cars for 50 years that have been chosen and beloved by our employees. Each will showcase the evolution of design and engineering and provide a nostalgic journey through auto and pop culture history. Read on as Charles Hunter, Berkley One Auto Damage Desk Adjustor (and his young co-pilot, his son Troy), acquired a 1994 Pontiac Trans AM 25th Anniversary Edition (and the character with whom it shares a name).

The Car

This is a truly rare vehicle as a limited number of the 1994 25th Anniversary Trans Ams were produced. It’s also beloved because the vehicle paid homage to the first Trans Am, the 1969 model, part of the 1st Generation Firebird. It boasts white leather interior with blue embroidery including 25th Anniversary Logos on the seats and door trim. It has a Trans Am GT spoiler and white lightweight 16″ Aluminum wheels. The powertrain includes a 5.7 Liter V8 “LT1” engine with sequential port fuel injection as well as its stainless-steel exhaust.

The Collector

Limited edition cars come and go, but for the celebration surrounding the 25 years of the legendary Trans Am, Pontiac built real excitement with this anniversary edition. The limited-production model brings forward all the excitement of the original 1969 Trans Am and combines it with the best technology developed over the past two and a half decades. The 1994 Trans Am’s powerplant makes 275 horsepower every time you hit the accelerator. An advanced four-wheel anti-lock disc brake system is there every time you need rapid deceleration.

The Love

I always loved the Pontiac Firebird. My first firebird was the 1969 which I traded for the 1973 Esprit. I sold the Esprit to buy my first new car which was the 1984 Trans Am with the 5.0 High Output V8. That car was stolen three times and recovered twice (the 3rd time was the charm). I gave up on the Trans Am until one day as working as an independent adjuster, I ran into an upholstery shop that had a driver’s seat of the 25th Anniversary Trans Am on the workbench being repaired.

I was told the owner was moving and was not sure if he was going to sell the car. I gave them my number and the owner agreed to let me see the car. After showing him photos of my past Firebirds, he felt that I was the one to take care of his baby and he sold me the car below market value. I call the car Trixie after the girlfriend of my favorite cartoon character Speed Racer. My son and co-pilot, Troy (pictured above), loves to cruise with Trixie.
