The Car

Introduced in 1958, the 1st Generation Chevrolet Bel Air Impala quickly became a best seller, accounting for 15% of total Chevrolet production. The Impala was only offered as a 2-door hardtop or convertible model. Unique characteristics included the introduction of dual headlamps and deeply sculpted rear fenders built on a longer wheelbase chassis. The interior included a two-spoke steering wheel and color-keyed door panels with brushed aluminum trim. The standard engine was a 185 horsepower, 283 cubic inch V-8 with optional 230hp and 250hp trims. The top-of-the-line engine was a larger 348 cu in with 280hp featuring three carburetors.

The Collector

The Chevrolet Impala is one of the most sought-after classic cars. Not only is it a favorite to restore to original condition, but collectors also love to modify this vehicle. Beyond the garage, the Impala has been featured in toys, movies, music, and television. A total of 55,989 Impala convertibles and 125,480 coupes were built for the 1958 model year.

The Love

I saw this vehicle at one of my very first car shows, and it has been a favorite ever since. I would love to buy one but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t fit in my garage.
