Story of a Classic: 1958 Chrysler Imperial
Bob’s Fully Original 1958 Chrysler Imperial
At Berkley One, our Classics team has the joy of helping to insure not only a client’s collector vehicle, but a piece of their personal history. We found ourselves enjoying the stories behind their beautiful vehicles so much that we decided to ask our clients if we could share them!
Here is the story of Bob from Minnesota and his completely original 1958 Chrysler Imperial.
Q: What drew you to this specific make and model?
Bob: I call it my “Covid car.” During the pandemic I was scrolling the internet for cars and this kept showing up on various websites.
I finally tracked it down to a Classic Car dealer in Florida. After getting much history of car we negotiated a price. It had been in a private collection for 25 years. It is ALL ORIGINAL, including paint. I have owned it for only two years and it has won several awards.
Q: Tell us about other collector vehicles you own?
Bob: I also have a 1959 Ford Thunderbird Convertible I purchased in 2015. It has won over 25 awards at various car events.
Q: What is the most interesting or memorable comment you’ve gotten about the Imperial vehicle?
Bob: I love attending car shows hosted at Senior Homes.
One of my most memorable events was last year. A fellow was pushing his wife, a patient of a memory care unit, in a wheel chair. She was bent over, but when she saw my car she sat up and turned to talk to her husband. He came over to me with tears in his eyes, hugged me, and said this was the first time she had spoken to him all day. Yes, I teared up. It is events like this that make you feel good about showing your car. People are so appreciative.
